In 1990 individuals in the city of Atlanta became aware of the critical need for space for homeless newborn babies and their families. The Zale Family Foundation provided a portion of the seed money to open Genesis Shelter and The Temple in Atlanta offered to lease the shelter space on their property for $10.00 a year. 16 religious organizations united to provide leadership.
